The Rocky Mountain Foundation for the Performing Arts (RMFPA) is a Colorado-based, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. Its mission is to promote the music, life and legacy of Colorado’s own John Denver to the younger generations.
To that end, the organization is pleased to announce the formation of the Rocky Mountain Foundation Orchestra, which is under the direction of the former, nine-year resident conductor of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO), Mr. Scott O’Neil.
We are holding an open casting call for the Rocky Mountain Foundation Orchestra who's members will consist of experienced current or previous orchestra musicians as well as high school/college orchestra musicians! Our focus will be the music of John Denver as we will perform a true John Denver International Tribute concert to be held in October 2018 featuring well established JD tribute artists from all over the world as well as a Frank Sinatra tribute artist from Las Vegas! We are looking for experienced orchestra musicians to help mentor the students and play in the concert as well (with compensation). Please know that we are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization registered here in Colorado and this will be a fundraiser so that proceeds will go to student scholarships. Go to www.rockymountainfpa.org and click on the "Rocky Mountain Orchestra" page for more information and contact info.
RMFPA is inviting local high school and first-year college students, who reside within the seven-county Denver area, to audition for this orchestra by sending in a short, three to four-minute audition video.
Mr. O’Neil will be choosing the members of this orchestra from these videos. In return, each member of the orchestra will be awarded a scholarship in an amount to be announced to the education institution they will be attending.
The orchestra is scheduled to perform a special, John Denver International Tribute Concert on Sunday October 14th 2018 at Hinkley High School Auditorium in Aurora, Colorado. It will feature John Denver Tribute Artists from as far away as New Zealand, Australia, Italy and Germany not to mention one from the states as well as a Frank Sinatra Tribute artist from Las Vegas, NV!
This project will present the opportunity for those participating to add to their experiences and resumes as having been a member in an orchestra under the direction of Mr. O’Neil. They also can add to their list of achievements that they have performed in a true John Denver International Tribute Concert!
More information such as instrumentation, qualifications, audition requirements and the rehearsal process and schedules can be accessed by logging on to www.rockymountainfpa.org and selecting the Orchestra Musician page under the Rocky Mountain Foundation Orchestra page. Updates will be added as they become available!
The deadline to submit your student audition video to email@example.com for consideration is August 17, 2018. Experienced orchestra musicians, contact us also at firstname.lastname@example.org!
